Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (
MIVHED), headed by Minister Víctor Ito Bisonó, began this Saturday the housing repair work in the 27 de Febrero sector, located in the 3rd constituency of the National District.
The intervention is part of the
Dominicana se Reconstruye program, an initiative aimed at dignifying the urban environment and improving the quality of life of families in vulnerable communities throughout the country.
The works cover homes located on Luis Reyes Acosta, Héctor J. Díaz, and Gregorio García Castro streets, where a survey was also conducted to identify other homes that will be included in future interventions.
Among the improvements carried out are the replacement of dirt floors with cement, the substitution of wooden walls with block, as well as roofing and painting work, among other structural adjustments.
During a tour of the intervened homes, Minister Ito Bisonó highlighted that these actions respond to the vision of President Luis Abinader, focused on guaranteeing concrete housing solutions throughout the national territory.
“Today we are in the 27 de Febrero neighborhood, intervening in houses that need repair and contributing to a better quality of life for the people. The MIVHED is taking on the task that President Abinader has entrusted to us: to be present in the municipalities, municipal districts and in every sector of the country,” said the official.
In the day’s event, council members and community leaders also participated, who positively valued the beginning of the works, considering that they will contribute to the well-being of dozens of families in the sector.
The Dominicana se Reconstruye program seeks to reduce the housing deficit, both qualitative and quantitative, by improving existing homes and building new housing solutions in different communities across the country.
The MIVHED, created by Law No. 160-21, has the mission of planning, regulating, and supervising public and private buildings, as well as promoting housing policies that promote safer, more organized, and resilient communities.
