Providence joins road safety in DR: Donation of helmets for Digesett

Santo Domingo.- An activity was held in the city of Providence, Rhode Island, organized by the liaison in the United States, Colonel Sonni Cepeda. The event aimed to formalize the delivery of donations of protective helmets, which will be sent to the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett) through the General Directorate of the Dominican National Police. The donations were made possible by the entrepreneurs Francisco Sánchez and Arismendi Sánchez, this initiative was carried out by Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta with the purpose of strengthening international relations with the diaspora and the authorities in the United States, as well as by the direction of cooperation and International Relations headed by Colonel Catano Martínez.

The activity was attended by various authorities who supported and highlighted the initiative. Attendees included Rhode Island’s Lieutenant Governor, Sabina Matos; Senator Ana Quezada; Representative Grace Díaz; and councilors Juan Pichardo and Ana Vargas. Also present, representing the Providence Police Chief, Oscar Pérez, was Lieutenant Tejada, a Providence police officer. Also joining were the leaders of the Dominican community, Domínguez Robles and Pedro Pineda. During the meeting, Rhode Island’s Lieutenant Governor, Sabina Matos, recognized entrepreneurs Francisco Sánchez and Arismendi Sánchez for their altruistic gesture in contributing their bit in the search for solutions for our country from the United States.
