San Francisco de Macorís .- The Ministry of Public Health ordered the closure of the Centro Galeno Diagnóstico Las Guáranas (Cegadig), owned by the doctor Wilbert Polanco Sanz, accused of sexual abuse in San Francisco de Macorís. According to information released by the Agenda 56 portal, the professional not only offered consultations as a general practitioner, but also served as the medical director of the establishment.

The closure decision is based on several aspects, including the administrative responsibility derived from its management function, which implies evaluating possible failures in supervision and in the application of ethical protocols within the center. The arrest of Polanco Sanz occurred after the complaint of a 20-year-old woman, who claimed to have been abused during the performance of a sonography. Also, prosecutor Sandra Sierra Difó confirmed that at least three previous complaints for similar acts attributed to the same professional are in the files of the Public Ministry. Authorities continue with the corresponding investigations as the judicial process progresses.
