Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic officially joined the birth of the Institute for the Future, an independent organization dedicated to foresight, anticipation, and strategic planning, during an event held in Santo Domingo as part of the institution’s international launch across 39 locations distributed throughout the Dominican Republic, Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe.
The activity, organized on behalf of the Umbral de Vida Foundation and held at the Odontocentro event center, brought together representatives from various sectors of society, who participated in the official connection corresponding to the Dominican capital.
The Institute for the Future was presented as a prospective think tank with a Latin American vocation and global projection, aimed at strengthening research, training, knowledge generation, and the construction of solutions to face the great challenges of the present and the future.
The institution is presided over by Dr. Roberto Fulcar, a Dominican academic, intellectual, consultant, and author, and is composed of a wide network of institutions, researchers, academics, intellectuals, and specialists from different countries committed to the development of a strategic vision for Latin America and the world.
During the broadcast of the main event, Fulcar urged governments, universities, companies, and social organizations to promote a culture of anticipation that allows for overcoming improvisation, understanding trends, exploring future scenarios, and building sustainable solutions for present and future generations.

The founder of the Institute stated that for a long time the future was conceived as a distant reality, but maintained that today it must be understood as a daily construction based on knowledge, foresight, and anticipation, capable of influencing the decisions that societies adopt.
In that context, he reaffirmed the institutional motto: “The future is today”.

As part of the day, the first edition of Dialogues of the Future was also held, dedicated to the panel “Foresight, Anticipation and Governance: the future of Latin America and the Caribbean”, in which specialists from various countries participated to debate the challenges and opportunities of the region.
The event was attended by authorities, academics, business leaders, social leaders, institutional representatives, and special guests, who valued the creation of the Institute of the Future as an initiative aimed at strengthening strategic thinking, international cooperation, and long-term planning.
Participants highlighted the importance of incorporating cities and territories into an ongoing conversation about the future, promoting research, innovation, leadership, and the formulation of proposals that contribute to the sustainable development of communities and the region.
With this launch, Santo Domingo was integrated into the Institute for the Future’s international engagement network, reaffirming its commitment to building a culture of anticipation, generating knowledge, and promoting initiatives aimed at the well-being of present and future generations.
