Espaillat.– At least five people lost their lives and more than 20 were injured this Sunday, whenTragedy in Jamao al Norte: Five dead and more than 20 injured in bus accident a bus carrying excursionists crashed on the Jamao-Moca road, in the province of Espaillat.
The information was confirmed by the senator of that constituency, Carlos Gómez, who indicated that the accident occurred while the vehicle was returning from Río San Juan bound for Esperanza, Valverde province.
The bus was carrying dozens of people who were on a field trip. According to initial reports, the vehicle overturned on one of the curves of the road while descending through a mountainous area.
Units from the National Emergency System 9-1-1 went to the scene to provide medical assistance and transport the injured to different health centers.
So far, no official list of victims has been provided, nor details on the condition of the injured. Authorities continue to investigate the causes of the accident.
