Santo Domingo.- The ambassador of the United States in the country, Leah Francis Campos, met with former President Leonel Fernández at the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (Funglode), which he founded and presides over, where they discussed various topics of national and international interest for more than two hours.

Campos toured the foundation’s facilities and learned firsthand about its various academic, cultural, and intellectual production spaces. During the meeting, issues related to the work that Funglode carries out in areas such as education, strategic thinking, literature, cinema, music and other social and cultural fields of national and international impact were addressed. The exchange took place in a pleasant and receptive environment, characterized by a fluid and highly compatible conversation, which allowed reflection on the importance of culture, knowledge, and cooperation as fundamental pillars for democratic strengthening and social development, the note highlighted. As part of her agenda, Ambassador Campos also visited the radio and television areas, as well as the recording and music production studios of the institution. During the tour, she was able to listen to fragments of the musical work of Johnny Ventura, an emblematic figure of Dominican music and a cultural reference of international projection. Likewise, the ambassador shared with the technical and creative team of a film production in development, in collaboration with Funglode Films, and learned about the audiovisual creation processes that the institution promotes as part of its commitment to the cultural and creative industries.
