Woman found dead in her home in Santiago; possible suicide investigated
Santiago. – A woman was found dead this Monday inside her home in the Villa Las Hortencias sector, in La Herradura, Santiago, in an event that the authorities are investigating as a possible suicide.
The deceased was identified as Yesenia María de León Torrez, 45 years old, mother of five children, who, according to her relatives, was found dead in one of the rooms of the house. The discovery generated alarm among the relatives, who immediately notified the authorities.
According to William Hernández, the victim’s ex-partner with whom she lived for six years, Yesenia was an impulsive person and on several occasions had expressed intentions to take her own life, even mentioning that she could jump from a bridge with her children.
Agents of the National Police and investigation units went to the residence to remove the body and collect evidence to clarify the circumstances of the event.
For the moment, investigators are handling the suicide hypothesis, although they do not rule out other possibilities as the investigations progress.
It was also revealed that the woman had been going through a depressive episode and had been separated for some time from the father of her children, with whom she had been having constant arguments.
The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding studies, while the authorities deepen the investigations to accurately determine what happened.
