Miriam Cruz reveals she had plans to attend Rubby’s party the night of the collapse

Santo Domingo. – The merengue diva, Miriam Cruz, revealed this Friday on the Esto No es Radio program that she had plans to attend with her husband to the party that Rubby Pérez was entertaining at the Jet Set nightclub the night the roof collapsed.

Cruz recalled that on that Monday, April 7th, he had a person doing a repair at his house and that he took longer than usual, so in the end he decided not to attend due to his husband’s lack of interest in going to the place.

With sadness and gratitude at the same time, Miriam says that she managed to survive that tragedy that ended with a balance of more than 230 dead and about 180 injured, because she is a woman who likes to be at home.

Regarding the reasons that motivated her to want to attend the party that night with Rubby Pérez, the merengue singer says that after an approach they had between both artists at Premios Soberano, she wanted to go enjoy his music since he was her favorite artist. On Tuesday, April 8th of this year, the news broke that the roof of the Jet Set Club nightclub had collapsed, trapping everyone inside, including Rubby Pérez and part of his orchestra. Due to the fact, the owner of the nightclub, Antonio Espaillat and his sister, who served as the manager of the place, were ordered coercive measures consisting of house arrest, a ban on leaving the country, and a bail of 50 million pesos. After having paid, both were released last Friday.
