New Jersey, USA – A federal court in the United States, with jurisdiction in the district of New Jersey, ended a long-standing family dispute related to the intellectual rights of the legendary Dominican balladeer
Dharío Primero, considered the “Sandro of America” of the Dominican Republic.
After a complex and extensive legal battle that involved an investment exceeding US$500,000, the company R.R. Entertainment Music Corp. obtained a favorable ruling by which all claims filed against it were dismissed, recognizing the full validity of the contracts, rights, and legal actions that have allowed the corporation to manage and protect, for more than a decade, the artistic legacy of the singer.

According to a press release, the court decision puts an end to a legal offensive that sought to invalidate agreements signed since 2008 and discredit the continuous, documented, and legally supported management of the record label over the musical catalog, intellectual works, and assets linked to the artist.
The musical legacy of Dharío Primero, who passed away on
May 13, 2025, was the central focus of an unprecedented family dispute that transcended the private sphere and reached federal instances in the United States.
During the legal process,
R.R. Entertainment Music Corp. and its president,
Ranphys Ortiz, demonstrated that all their performances were carried out in accordance with the law, supported by valid contracts, documentary evidence, and compliance with legal regulations both in the United States and internationally.
The corporation maintained —and as reflected in the ruling— that the artist was subjected to undue pressure and maneuvers by third parties, including family members, at a time of serious medical vulnerability, with the aim of appropriating the work developed since 2005 to protect, organize, and project his musical legacy.
“I have not and will not spare any resources to defend my father’s legacy. This defense is non-negotiable. I will continue to act firmly, within the framework of the law, in any court and jurisdiction where necessary,” expressed Ranphys Ortiz.
For his part,
Raphael Primero, vice president of R.R. Entertainment Music Corp., stated that “the music of my father belongs to his people, as he always wanted: the Dominican Republic. He protected his work with discipline throughout his life, and we will continue to safeguard it with the same seriousness and respect”.
As a direct consequence of the federal ruling, the record label announced the
progressive and immediate reinstatement of Dharío Primero’s musical catalog on digital platforms, marking a new stage of visibility and global access to his work.
In that context, R.R. Entertainment invited the public to rediscover the artist’s compositions, highlighting emblematic themes such as “Mi Manera”, one of his greatest hits, and “Triste Inventario”, considered by many to be his last musical testament, a work loaded with depth, artistic maturity, and emotiveness.
