A massive blackout is recorded in southeastern Mexico

Different areas of the states of Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Campeche, in southeastern Mexico, are facing a massive blackout this Friday afternoon, reported local media. In Cancun, a well-known tourist city in Mexico, traffic lights were out of service on main avenues. Power outages were also documented in Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Isla Mujeres, and Chetumal.

The governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores, pointed out that it is a “peninsular electrical failure”, without giving further details. “They are already working on it,” she added. The causes of the event are unknown.
