VIDEO: Firefighters rescue 270-kilogram man from second-floor apartment in Florida
Firefighters in West Palm Beach, Florida, carried out a complex rescue to remove a 270-kilogram man from a second-floor apartment after a medical emergency left him unable to use the stairs.
Because the man could not be safely transported through the building, firefighters used a crane to lower him from the apartment. The operation required removing part of the wall and balcony to create enough space to move the patient safely.
The man was placed on a reinforced stretcher and lowered to an ambulance as neighbors and witnesses recorded the rescue. Video of the operation has since circulated widely on social media.
The rescue highlights the challenges emergency crews can face when treating and evacuating patients who cannot be moved through conventional exits.
