VIDEO: Pope Leo XIV admitted to Gemelli Hospital for lung nodule surgery

Pope Leo XIV was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli University Polyclinic in Rome on Tuesday, October 13, to undergo surgery for a lung nodule, the Holy See Press Office announced.
In a statement released late Tuesday morning, the Vatican confirmed that the procedure would take place that afternoon. The operation will be performed by a thoracic surgery team led by Professor Stefano Margaritora.
The announcement follows the Pope’s remarks after the Angelus prayer on Sunday, when he disclosed that he would undergo the procedure.
The Holy See Press Office said further information about the Pope’s condition and the operation would be provided later Tuesday.
