Manny Machado hits his 350th home run and joins a historic club

SAN FRANCISCO — San Diego Padres’ star third baseman, Manny Machado, wrote another brilliant chapter in his career this Thursday by hitting the 350th home run of his career during the last game of the series against the Giants at Oracle Park.

At just 32 years old, Machado becomes one of only 33 players since 1901 to reach that figure before turning 33. At any age, only 102 players in the history of Major League Baseball have managed to hit 350 home runs.

In addition to the home run milestone, Machado is only 29 hits away from 2,000, which puts him in line to enter an even more exclusive club. Only 11 players have recorded both marks —2,000 hits and 350 home runs— before concluding their season at age 32. Eight of them are already members of the Hall of Fame: Hank Aaron, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Ken Griffey Jr., Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Mel Ott and Frank Robinson. The other three are contemporary figures not yet eligible: Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols and Alex Rodríguez.

The Dominican, considered one of the best third basemen of his generation, seems to be moving steadily towards Cooperstown. In the immediate future, he is also enjoying a great offensive moment: after his home run in the third inning, Machado has a batting average of .316 with an OPS of .879. Although his power had not been noticeable at the beginning of the season, five of his eight home runs in 2025 have come in the last two weeks.

Last year, Machado had already etched his name in Padres history by breaking the franchise record for most home runs, surpassing Nate Colbert’s 163. Thursday’s blast was his number 175 with the San Diego uniform, and everything indicates that the count will continue to grow. SOURCE: MLB
