British bodybuilder Mateusz Chmura died on October 18 after collapsing during the Physical Culture Association (PCA) British Championships in Telford, England, one day before his 34th birthday.

Chmura, 33, from Wakefield, was competing in the Classic Bodybuilding Medium category when the incident occurred, according to a statement released by the PCA on October 19.

A paramedic attending the competition immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), while emergency services were called to the scene. Midlands Air Ambulance also responded to the incident.

Despite receiving immediate medical attention and being transported to a hospital by ambulance, Chmura did not survive. The competition was temporarily suspended while medical teams treated him and later resumed following a meeting with the athletes.
