32 economics professionals were recognized by UCSD and CODECO

Santo Domingo.- The Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD), in partnership with the Dominican College of Economists (CODECO), recognized the trajectory of outstanding professionals whose contributions have strengthened the economic, academic, and social development of the Dominican Republic, during a ceremony held on the university campus.

UCSD and CODECO authorities highlighted that this recognition serves as a tribute to excellence, professional ethics, and a commitment to national development, while also valuing the contribution of those who, from academia, professional practice, public management, and the private sector, have promoted economic growth and the well-being of Dominican society.

Within the framework of the ceremony, held in the auditorium of the Octavo Antonio Cardenal Beras Rojas Library, the distinctions of Distinguished Economist, the highest category of recognition, were conferred upon a group of professionals with long and outstanding careers.

The honorees in this category were Julio Bernardo Vega, José Arnaldo Serulle Ramia, Carlos Rafael Despradel Roques, Fernando Manuel Pellerano Morilla, César Apolinar Veloz de la Rosa, Francisco Ramón Checo, Luis Eduardo Tonos, Héctor Giuliani Cury, and José Enrique Santos Taveras.

Also, the mayor of the National District, Rosa Carolina Mejía, together with her economist colleagues Yván Leonidas Rodríguez Batista, Rosa María Sánchez Betancourt, Jacqueline Mora Báez, Luis Ortega Rincón and Fernando Álvarez Bogaert.

Likewise, the Minister of Finance and Economy, Magín Díaz, received special recognition for his contributions to the country in the economic and social spheres.

Similarly, economists Haivanjoe Ng Cortiñas and Tito Olivo, along with journalist Alex Jiménez, were honored for their contribution to the communication and dissemination of economic topics.

The ceremony also included recognition for outstanding professionals in the categories of Teaching Career, Young Excellence in Economics, Research and Scientific Production, Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship, International Projection of the Dominican Economist, and Contribution to National Economic Thought.
