Santo Domingo.- The political movement Dominicanos Primero, led by businessman and communicator Santiago Matías, continues its activities ahead of the recognition process as a political party for the 2028 elections, with signature collection drives and recruitment of new members in different provinces of the country over the weekend.
The organization carried out activities in the Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez provinces, specifically in the Las Terrenas and Sánchez municipalities, respectively, where it held meetings with citizens interested in learning about and supporting the political initiative.
The president of Dominicanos Primero, Pablo Sainz, reported that during the day, the goals established for the collection of signatures were reached in both municipalities. As he explained, in Las Terrenas the planned objective was reached in approximately one hour.
The activities are part of the tour that the organization is carrying out through different provinces of the country to promote its proposal and add citizens to its political project. The collection of signatures is also being carried out through a digital platform enabled by the movement to register the support of those who back the initiative.
Proposal for the reduction of the State
Dominicanos Primero has put forward a proposal aimed at reducing the size of the Dominican State through the elimination of 18 ministries, institutes, councils, and other public agencies.

According to the organization, this initiative seeks to contribute to the reduction of public debt and allow for a decrease in taxes, based on the premise that a larger state structure does not necessarily translate into better living conditions for the population.
The movement has also questioned the growth of the government structure and has warned that this may favor practices of political clientelism.

The organization seeks to advance the process of legal recognition as a political party through the incorporation of new members and the collection of the required signatures.

During the day held in Samaná, citizens who participated in the activities publicly expressed their support for Matías and manifested their interest in the communicator being an option for the Presidency of the Dominican Republic.
The sessions in Las Terrenas and Sánchez are part of the territorial expansion strategy of Dominicanos Primero, which seeks to bring its proposal to different communities in the country and continue to gain citizen support ahead of the upcoming elections.
