Santo Domingo.- Veteran Dominican basketball player Al Horford congratulated his compatriot Karl-Anthony Towns after winning the NBA championship with the New York Knicks, a team that ended a 53-year title drought.
Through a post on his X account, Horford highlighted the performance of the New York team during the final stretch of the season.
“Congratulations to Karl and the Knicks. They played their best basketball at the end of the year,” wrote the Dominican player.
The message came after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games to win the third championship in their history and their first since 1973.
After lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy, Towns also had words of recognition for Horford, whom he pointed to as one of his main inspirations in professional basketball.
“A shout-out to Al Horford, who really inspired me to do this”, Towns expressed during the post-championship press conference.
