The Brazilian national team lived up to expectations and defeated France in the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Volleyball Championship being held in Thailand, thus facing Italy in the semifinals. The South American team managed to withstand the pressure imposed by the French, especially in the first two sets, to resolve the match quickly, 3-0, with partials of 27-25, 33-31 and 25-19. The Brazilian team, current world runners-up, will meet Italy again in the penultimate round, whom they defeated three years ago in the Netherlands/Poland and who are now seeking revenge after eliminating the Polish team in the quarterfinals, also by 3-0 (25-17, 25-21 and 25-18).
