DGDC certifies 20 new specialists in artisanal jewelry and goldsmithing

Santo Domingo, DR. — The General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC) certified 20 participants who completed training programs in jewelry and goldsmithing, as part of its initiative to boost entrepreneurship and facilitate new opportunities for labor insertion.
The training was developed through the institution’s Department of Education at the Juan Pablo Duarte School of Jewelry and Artisan Goldsmithing, located in the Colonial Zone of the National District, where for 12 months participants acquired knowledge on the design, creation, and finishing of pieces.
The graduation ceremony was held in the DGDC auditorium and was led by the entity’s general director, Modesto Guzmán, who highlighted the effort, discipline, and dedication of the new technicians during their training process.
Guzmán also highlighted the work of facilitator Alejandrina García for her contribution to the development of the students’ skills, and stated that the institution will continue to promote programs that allow citizens to strengthen their capabilities to access new opportunities.
“This certificate is the beginning of a new stage full of challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities to demonstrate everything learned,” the official expressed, noting that jewelry making and goldsmithing require creativity, precision, and dedication.
During the ceremony, the graduates showcased pieces created as part of their training and thanked the DGDC for providing them with tools that will allow them to expand their professional growth options and develop their own projects.
