Santo Domingo. – The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) reported that it filed a formal complaint against citizen Eli Alberto Martínez Martínez, who was caught cutting a triplex distribution cable with a machete on Francisco Peña Gómez street, in the Jobo Jaguey sector, in the municipality of Higüey.
The event, which occurred on September 24th, caused the interruption of the electrical service in the area and put the safety of the community, the technical brigades working in the area, and the aggressor himself at risk.
Edeeste explained that, upon learning of the situation through the physical security personnel in Higüey, he proceeded to document the case and file the complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in accordance with the provisions of articles 262 and 263 of the Dominican Code of Criminal Procedure.
The company indicated that it provided as evidence a USB memory device containing images of Mr. Martinez performing the illicit action. Likewise, it requested the Public Prosecutor’s Office to conduct a thorough investigation to gather the evidentiary elements that allow the accused to be brought to justice and achieve his conviction.
Edeeste reiterated that this type of act undermines citizen security and the stability of the electrical system, in addition to constituting a serious violation of the law.
