Santo Domingo. – Leaders of the Dominican College of Journalists (CDP), the Institute for Social Security and Protection of the Journalist (IPPP), the Marcelino Vega Movement (MMV), and the Dominican College of Announcers (CDL), requested that President Luis Abinader expedite the issuance of the decree through which communication professionals from the country and abroad will be granted pensions.
The request to that effect was presented to the President through Alberto Caminero, Director of Information and Press for the President, during a meeting held on Tuesday, June 2nd, at the Government Palace.

The participants in the meeting detailed to the official the needs suffered by dozens of professionals in the social communication sector, to the extent that several have passed away due to the lack of resources to acquire their medicines and basic food.
“Pensions are a necessity, not a luxury. They must be provided now, at times when the beneficiaries can make use of them, not at the moment of expiration. That is why we reiterate to the president that he accept our requests and expedite the decree so that the pensions are issued,” expressed Olivo De León, coordinator of the MMV and advisor to the CDP and the IPPP.
In the meeting with Alberto Caminero, in addition to De León, Gabriel Cruz, president of the IPPP; Nelson Gutierrez, president of the CDL; and Wilson Guerrero, secretary of the National Cooperative of Multiple Services of the Press (Coopnaprensa) participated.
