Hecmilio Galván tours Cordillera Central, assures that the mountains must be vindicated

FEDA donates 120 thousand coffee seedlings and tools to producers from Arrollo Cano to Los Fríos. Azua. – The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), led by Hecmilio Galván, delivered 120,000 coffee seedlings, donated by UTEPDA, and agricultural tools to producers and farmers from various rural mountain communities in the provinces of Azua and San Juan de la Maguana, during the 8th Compostela Route. Galvan assures that almost 70% of the Dominican territory is mountainous, however, the majority of the population lives in the plains, neglecting this so important territory, which is why the “hill or mountain” identity of Dominicans must be vindicated:. For this reason, the Program to Promote Agroecological Production Saving The Mountains has been devised, through which it supports farmers in mountainous areas. Among the benefited communities are Padre Las Casas, Monte Bonito, Las Lagunas, Bohechío, Los Guayuyos, Gajo del Monte, La Siembra, San José de la Cueva, Botoncillo, Arroyo Cano, El Montazo, Los Fríos, Los Auquelles, Las Cañitas and El Yaque, which according to Galván, are the heart of the Central Mountain Range.

The CEO of FEDA, Hecmilio Galván, expressed his commitment to the development of the communities of the South and highlighted the importance of preserving the mountains of Padre Las Casas and the entire country.

“May God bless Padre Las Casas, this is a historic town, of tradition, social struggle and that represents a light in the mountains. It is a gateway to these mountains that we have to save and protect, because life, wealth, well-being and above all the development of the country depend on them. Our objective is to offer Padre Las Casas and all these rural communities a helping hand, support and encouragement so that we can move forward”, Galván affirmed.

In addition, the head of FEDA thanked the significant support of the Technical Executive Unit for Agroforestry Development Projects of the Presidency (UTEPDA) in the area. The activity marked the beginning of 17 simultaneous events held over two consecutive days in the region, reaffirming FEDA’s commitment to sustainable development, agricultural production, and the improvement of the living conditions of producers. In the 8th Route of Compostela, The FEDA in your Community took place; Ecology Workshops and donation of Tools; Saving the Mountains Plan; Training for young farmers, through the Emprende RD program. With this delivery, the FEDA continues to promote the rebirth of Dominican coffee, fostering production, reforestation, and the generation of sustainable income in the mountainous areas of the country.
