Loan shark and debtor arrested after chair-throwing clash in Rabo de Chivo

San Francisco de Macorís. – National Police agents arrested a loan shark identified as Jimmy Ramón Mena and his debtor, Edward Bello Abreu, known as “El Bori,” after both engaged in a chair-swinging fight in the San Martín sector, popularly called Rabo de Chivo. Bello Abreu explained that the loan was to be paid weekly and assured that he does not refuse to pay the debt, but that the lender usually assaults him. According to his version, on this occasion Mena allegedly tried to get a gun from his vehicle, so he reacted by hitting him with a chair.

For his part, Mena indicated that the loan was to be paid within 13 weeks, but that eight months had already passed without receiving the money, and stated that every time he tried to collect, the debtor hid or changed the payment date. The lender denied having a firearm in his vehicle and assured that he only defended himself after being attacked. Both were arrested and placed at the disposal of the competent authorities for the corresponding purposes.
