Atlanta. The San Diego Padres ended a six-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves, thanks to a solo home run by Manny Machado in the ninth inning that broke the tie at Truist Park.

The Dominican Machado opened the ninth inning with a powerful hit to left field against Raisel Iglesias (3-4), his fourth home run of the season, which turned out to be the decisive hit of the game.
The game also marked the long-awaited return of Ronald Acuña Jr., who put on a show from his first at-bat. The Venezuelan, National League Most Valuable Player in 2023, hit a 467-foot home run on the first pitch he saw of the season, igniting the home crowd. Later, he added a single and starred in a brilliant defensive play by retiring Elías Díaz at second base in the eighth inning.
Atlanta’s starting pitcher Chris Sale had a solid performance, pitching seven innings with only one run, the result of a home run by Gavin Sheets in the second. However, the Braves’ offense was unable to capitalize on the effort.

For the Padres, Jason Adam (5-0) earned the win by getting the last out of the eighth inning, while Venezuelan Robert Suárez earned his 16th save, despite allowing a single by Alex Verdugo in the ninth.
With this victory, San Diego breaks its losing streak and seeks to regain its course in the National League West Division.
