Santo Domingo. – On a day like today, in 1888, the first victim of Jack the Ripper appeared, who is registered as the first serial killer in history, and who terrorized Whitechapel, a poor neighborhood in East London in the Victorian era.

Mary Ann Nichols was found on the morning of that August 31st, mutilated, and she would be followed by five more deaths with the same pattern: all were female prostitutes, who were not only murdered, but also dismembered, organs were removed, throats were cut, genital areas were cut, the face was disfigured, among other things, which is why he was given the infamous name by which he has been known ever since.

This event started the series of similar cases, and which account for at least five more attacks, with the same characteristics.

As he was never captured, the legend took care of making multiple conjectures about the identity of Jack the Ripper, and even today the events cause fascination.
