Santo Domingo. – The family of 15-year-old Albelis Ortiz Sánchez is requesting the solidary support of the public to complete the fundraising of US$7,500, an amount that will cover the travel, lodging, and food expenses necessary for her to travel to the United States, where she will undergo a sixth specialized surgery that represents her hope of continuing to live.
Albelis was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and, from her early years, has faced significant health challenges. Despite the difficulties, she has overcome five surgeries that have allowed her to keep moving forward with the support of her family and the strength that characterizes her.
However, her condition has worsened. The deformity in her spine and hip prevents her from standing upright and is causing her bones to put pressure on her internal organs, a situation that seriously compromises her health and puts her life at risk.
The teenager will undergo surgery at a specialized medical center in the United States. Although an institution will cover the costs of the surgical procedure, her family must cover the expenses related to travel and lodging during the recovery process.

Thanks to the solidarity of dozens of people, the fundraising campaign has already reached nearly US$3,500. However, the goal of US$7,500 still needs to be met, which is essential to make the trip possible and ensure that Albelis can receive the medical care she needs.
“Every contribution, regardless of the amount, brings us closer to the possibility of Albelis receiving this surgery. Those who cannot contribute financially also help us by sharing her story so that it reaches more people,” expressed her mother, Viviana Sánchez.
People interested in supporting this cause can make their donations through the campaign enabled on GoFundMe:
