Tourist catamaran catches fire during tour in Bayahíbe

Bayahíbe, La Altagracia.– Several people were affected this Monday after a fire was reported on a catamaran that was conducting a tourist tour in the area of Bayahíbe, La Altagracia province.

According to preliminary information, more than 30 people, including tourists and crew members, were traveling on the vessel when the incident occurred.

The authorities reported that 12 of those affected suffered burns of varying degrees. Of that group, 11 remain admitted to different health centers, while one person was transferred to a private clinic to receive specialized medical care.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to assist the passengers and control the situation. So far, the authorities have not reported the causes that originated the fire.
