Users will be able to travel by Metro, Cable Car, and buses with a single payment of RD$35 starting in July
Santo Domingo. – Starting next July 10, the integrated public transport fare system will come into operation, which will allow users to use the Santo Domingo Metro, the Cable Car, and the bus corridors through a single payment of RD$35.
The information was provided by the executive vice president of the Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT), Jhael Isa Taveras, who explained that the measure is part of the consolidation process of the Integrated Transport System (SIT) promoted by the authorities.
With this modality, passengers will be able to travel between different state transport means using a single ticket, which seeks to facilitate urban mobility, reduce travel costs, and improve the travel experience for citizens.
How the integrated fare will work
The new scheme will allow combining trips on the Metro, Cable Car, and bus corridors without the need for additional payments during the journey, provided that transfers are made within the time established by the system.

The authorities have explained that the integrated fare is designed to primarily benefit users who use more than one means of transport to reach their destination, offering a more economical and efficient alternative.
Modernization of public transport
The implementation is part of the mass transit modernization initiatives in Greater Santo Domingo and seeks to strengthen the interconnection between the different systems operated by the State.
The Integrated Transport System contemplates the progressive integration of new routes and corridors, in addition to the incorporation of payment technologies that facilitate user access to the different mobility services.
Authorities hope that the measure will contribute to increasing the use of public transport, reducing travel times, and offering a more comfortable alternative for thousands of passengers who travel daily in the capital and nearby areas.
