Santo Domingo. – After experiencing serious complications following spinal surgery, 34-year-old Ana Cristina Martínez, a native of the Los Alcarrizos municipality, remains admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at a health center in the capital.
According to her relatives, during the recovery process, doctors detected the presence of three bacteria, a situation that led to the development of meningitis. Due to the severity of her condition, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where specialists had to induce a coma to stabilize her condition.
Currently, Martínez is receiving specialized care at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Medical Center, where she remains under medical supervision.
Those close to him explain that, due to the prolonged hospitalization and the required procedures, his health insurance coverage has been exhausted, which is why they are facing difficulties in covering the costs of the treatment and the care he still needs.
