78% defines Luis Abinader as an honest president, according to Sondeos survey

Santo Domingo.– The national survey conducted in person between December 20 and 23, 2025, reveals a high citizen valuation of President Luis Abinader, as well as high levels of trust in several institutions and officials of the Dominican State. The study, applied to 1,300 people, claims to have more accurately predicted the results of the past electoral process, shows that 78% of those interviewed define Luis Abinader as an honest president, compared to 14% who consider him dishonest. Regarding the fight against corruption, 63% of those surveyed believe that it has been during Abinader’s administration that this scourge has been most confronted, surpassing the periods of Leonel Fernández (21%) and Danilo Medina (13%).

Economy and Expectations for 2026

Regarding the country’s economic situation, 38% believe it is better than last year, while 40% consider it worse. However, future expectations show greater optimism: 47% believe the economy will be better in 2026, compared to 34% who think it will worsen. Likewise, 67% believe that the president has the capacity, attitude, and knowledge to improve the country’s situation next year, and 63% claim to believe in his word. Regarding the performance of President Abinader, it is valued as positive by 63% of respondents, while Vice President Raquel Peña obtains a positive valuation of 79%, one of the highest figures in the study.

The survey also reflects high confidence in the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, with 85% positive opinions, and an 82% approval of Omar Fernández’s management as senator for the National District.

Top-rated officials

Among the officials of the Executive Branch, figures such as Carlos Bonilla (Housing), Luis Miguel de Camps (Education) and David Collado (Tourism) stand out for their approval rating, all with approval levels above 75%. In terms of efficiency and honesty, ministers David Collado, Luis Miguel de Camps and Víctor Atallah are among the best valued by the citizenry, with positive perception percentages that are around or exceed 80%.

Main citizen concerns

Looking ahead to 2026, the survey indicates that the main concerns of Dominicans are quality of life (54%), salary improvement (51%), the economic situation (48%), and lack of employment (44%), followed by poverty, health, and citizen insecurity. The study concludes that, despite economic and social concerns, the Government maintains high levels of approval and trust, especially in the presidential figure and in several key officials, which outlines a favorable political scenario for the year 2026.
