Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Association of Lawyers (ADOMA) commemorated its 65th anniversary this Tuesday, reaffirming its commitment to the dignification of the legal profession, the promotion of justice, the strengthening of the Rule of Law, and the defense of the institutional values of the Dominican Republic.
As part of the commemorative events, the entity held a floral offering at the Altar of the Fatherland, in tribute to the Founding Fathers and as an expression of the commitment of legal professionals to democracy, sovereignty, justice, and national institutionality.

The president of ADOMA, Radhamés J. Garcés Rosario, highlighted that the celebration of the institution’s 65 years represents an opportunity to reaffirm its responsibility both to Dominican society and to the lawyers of the country.
“We are here today, August 11, in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Dominican Bar Association. In front of the Altar of the Fatherland, we reaffirm the commitment we have as an institution to society and to the lawyers of the Dominican Republic,” expressed Garcés.

The union leader explained that one of the main objectives of the new board of directors will be to strengthen the training and professional development of legal professionals, especially in light of the technological changes that are transforming professional practice.
He indicated that topics such as artificial intelligence and new areas of academic specialization must be part of the preparation of Dominican jurists.
“Today we are talking about artificial intelligence, we are talking about master’s degrees and new areas of knowledge. We are ready to bring that bread of education to lawyers throughout the national territory,” he stated.

Garcés also highlighted the challenges facing the independent practice of law and pointed out that the country currently has a registry of more than 80,000 lawyers, many of whom practice daily in the courts.
In that sense, he maintained that training constitutes a fundamental tool for professionals to be able to perform in the face of the new demands of the justice system.
“This is a very independent profession. We have a registry of more than 80 thousand lawyers in the country and many are in the courts earning their daily bread. That is why we are trying to train lawyers so that they have updated tools and can function and defend themselves in everything related to justice,” he added.
Since its foundation in 1961, ADOMA has developed a trajectory characterized by union participation, legal training, the defense of the interests of legal professionals, and the promotion of initiatives aimed at strengthening the national legal community.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the institution also recognized the contributions made by its former presidents, members of the various boards of directors, collaborators, and legal professionals who, for more than six decades, have contributed to the growth and consolidation of the organization.
“Celebrating 65 years is not just looking at the past; it is assuming the future with greater responsibility. Our history commits us to continue working for a dignified, prepared, united legal profession committed to justice and the Rule of Law,” stated Garcés.

The current ADOMA management assured that it will continue to promote spaces for training, professional updating, union participation, and institutional linkage, with the purpose of responding to the transformations experienced by the legal system and Dominican society.
Likewise, the association reiterated its willingness to strengthen ties with justice system institutions, universities, professional organizations, and other sectors of society, promoting initiatives that contribute to the development of the legal profession and the institutional strengthening of the Dominican Republic.
