Hato Mayor.– Citizens denounce a high-risk health situation that would be affecting the Municipal Hospital El Valle, in the province of Hato Mayor, after a microbiological culture recently performed on the water for consumption and general use of the center detected the presence of dangerous bacteria.
According to the analysis results, microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas spp., and Klebsiella spp. were identified in the hospital water system that supplies hospitalization areas, kitchen, operating room, delivery room, and other medical areas.
Specialists warn that the presence of E. coli is an indicator of fecal contamination, which represents a serious threat to public health. Meanwhile, Pseudomonas and Klebsiella are opportunistic pathogens commonly associated with intrahospital infections, especially in vulnerable patients such as newborns, premature infants, immunocompromised individuals, and patients undergoing invasive procedures.
The situation has generated concern due to the risk involved in using contaminated water in a hospital environment, where hygiene and sterility conditions are essential to prevent infections.

In addition to water pollution, whistleblowers point out that the hospital is in an advanced state of structural deterioration.
They also indicated that the Provincial Health Directorate and the Regional Directorate have not carried out a corrective intervention in the face of the situation.
So far, health authorities have not issued a public statement on the case.
