Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry reported the capture of Orlando Fabián Ángeles, alias “Orlandito”, who had escaped last year from a Moca court after being sentenced to 30 years in prison for the death of a man and a girl. The arrest was carried out by the Fugitives, Rebels and Convicts Capture Unit (Ucaprec) through a raid on a house in the municipal district of Nisibón, in the province of La Altagracia. After his arrest, he was transferred to the jurisdiction of Espaillat to serve the sentence.

According to the record, Ángeles acted alongside Juan Óscar Castillo Acevedo (Nuno), sentenced to 20 years in prison. Both arrived on motorcycles to José María Rodríguez street, in Moca, on the night of October 11, 2021, carrying illegal firearms and firing around 30 shots. The attack caused the death of the 8-year-old girl and Mr. Rafael Cervantes Jorge Peña. The Collegiate Court of the Espaillat Judicial District sentenced Fabián Ángeles for criminal association, voluntary homicide, and illegal possession of weapons, imposing 30 years of imprisonment and the payment of an indemnity of four million pesos. Meanwhile, Castillo Acevedo was sentenced for complicity to 20 years in prison and the payment of the same amount. Ángeles fled on December 15, 2025, from the Espaillat Courthouse, after the coercive measure of preventive prison was changed in the hearing where he was sentenced. The search and arrest warrant was issued by Judge Francis Reyes Diloné, of the Judicial District of La Altagracia. The authorities indicated that the convicted person must serve his sentence at the La Isleta Correction and Rehabilitation Center, in Moca.
