DGM brings to justice man who assaulted immigration agents in Hato Mayor

SANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reports that Dominican citizen Claudio Castillo was brought to justice for violently interfering with and obstructing a migration interdiction operation carried out in the town of Los Hatillos, Dubay neighborhood, Hato Mayor del Rey municipality.

According to the preliminary report, the defendant physically assaulted members of the DGM while they were detaining several undocumented Haitian nationals; consequently, and during the process of subduing him, two Haitian citizens who were being held aboard an official vehicle used in the operation managed to escape.

The institution reiterates that it will not tolerate actions that undermine authority or hinder migration control efforts, and reaffirms its commitment to act in accordance with the current legal framework and to bring to justice any person who engages in acts that affect the development of its operations.
