Two officers from the Dominican Republic’s General Directorate of Migration (DGM) are under investigation after they were filmed transporting a Haitian man lying across a motorcycle in San Juan province.
According to a source familiar with the agency, the foreign national was detained after allegedly resisting arrest. He had reportedly been identified as a suspect in the theft of items from a local business.
A video obtained by Dominican newspaper Hoy shows the man being transported on the motorcycle by the two migration officers.
The source said both officers have been summoned to DGM headquarters, where an internal investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether any improper conduct occurred.
The General Directorate of Migration is expected to provide additional information as the investigation continues.
