Dominican Republic Navy graduates 272 new recruits at Las Calderas Naval Base

Las Calderas, Peravia. – The Dominican Republic Navy celebrated on Saturday, January 17th, the graduation ceremony of 272 midshipmen of both genders, trained at the Naval Training Center, after successfully completing the instruction program that began in July of last year.

The event took place at the Las Calderas Naval Base, recognized as the cradle of naval training in the country, where a rigorous process of academic, technical, and military training was carried out, aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of the institution and responding to the demands of naval service.

The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD, Minister of Defense, who administered the oath to the new sailors who immediately join the active ranks of the Navy, reaffirming their commitment to serve the Homeland with honor, discipline, and loyalty. The Minister of Defense was accompanied by the provincial governor of Peravia, Mrs. Ángela Yadira Báez, as well as Vice Admiral Juan B. Crisóstomo Martínez, general commander of the Navy, who presented the recognition to the outstanding graduate of the promotion, in attention to his academic performance, dedication, discipline and vocation of service.

The keynote speech was delivered by the director of the Naval Training Center, Captain José Agustín José Vásquez, who highlighted the progressive structure of the training program, developed in blocks of comprehensive preparation, and emphasized that these 272 new sailors assume the commitment to serve with courage, honor and loyalty, projecting their naval career on the basis of discipline, duty and the pride of belonging to the institution.

During the ceremony, Seaman Brayni Rodríguez Rodríguez was recognized as an Honorary Graduate, and was presented with his certificate, a recognition plaque, and an institutional gift, in recognition of his outstanding academic performance and exemplary conduct. The graduates will be incorporated into the various institutional services according to their specialties, which include: boatswain, marine infantry, diesel mechanics, electricity, radio operator in naval communications, computer science, clerk, nursing, cooking, and driver. The ceremony was attended by civil and military authorities, as well as family and friends of the graduating midshipmen, who accompanied this significant step in the professional lives of the new sailors. Visibly moved, the families participated in the religious act of blessing and invocation to God, expressing their pride and satisfaction for their children’s decision to serve the nation through the Navy, contributing to the highest interests of the Dominican State and the permanent strengthening of the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic.
