Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Federation of Merchants (FDC), along with the Dominican Chamber of Commercial Entrepreneurs (CADECO) and the Association of Beauty Center Owners of the National District and Santo Domingo, denounced this Wednesday alleged irregularities committed against the PAHIES BY M & Y beauty center, located in the Ensanche Julieta.
In an official statement, the FDC called the actions of members of the Municipal Police, assigned to the Directorate of Public Spaces, a “abuse“, who, according to the complaint, had intervened in the premises arbitrarily, despite the fact that the establishment complies with all current legal and urban planning provisions.
The organization indicated that the property, with an area of 720 square meters, exceeds the 610 meters established in Ordinance 10/20, which modifies Resolution 85-09, as a requirement for the operation of higher-density businesses. “This premises was previously operated for more than 11 years as a school, with registered commercial permits and payment of municipal taxes that support it,” assured the FDC.
Furthermore, the federation emphasized that PAHIES BY M & Y is a company run by entrepreneurial women from humble backgrounds, classified as an MSME, and that it currently generates more than 50 formal jobs, actively contributing to the local economy.
The business guild made a direct call to President Luis Abinader, as well as to the authorities of the National District City Hall, to respect the current legal framework regarding land use and guarantee the constitutional right to the free exercise of commerce, especially when it comes to companies that comply with the law and contribute to the socioeconomic development of the country.
“Es nuestro deber apoyar este tipo de iniciativas que promueven el empleo digno y la formalidad. Las autoridades están obligadas a proteger a los ciudadanos que cumplen con las normativas municipales y nacionales”, concluyó la FDC.
