Santo Domingo.- With lit candles, cakes, tobacco, and colorful clothing, dozens of devotees flocked this Tuesday to the San Miguel Church, in the Colonial Zone, to commemorate the Day of Saint Michael.
From early hours, the faithful arrived at the temple to participate in the religious celebrations and give thanks for the favors received, mainly for their own health and that of their relatives.
Some of the devotees arrived with large candles as part of their offerings, while others brought cakes and different items associated with their traditions of faith.

Tobacco was also present during the day, while the colors of some participants’ clothing filled the surroundings of the temple with uniqueness.

For many of those present, this date represents an opportunity to renew their vows, express their gratitude, and ask for protection for themselves and their loved ones.
“I am his #1 daughter… My son had a stroke 12 days ago and my son is in his grocery store like a lion. I come every 29th of the month to this church,” stated a woman who identified herself as Xiomara, who thanks the saint for her relative’s health.
Among the attendees, there were also people with disabilities, who made the effort to travel to the church to participate in the celebration and experience this day alongside other devotees.
The day was marked by demonstrations of faith, prayers, and gratitude, in a celebration that every year brings together people who keep their devotion to Saint Michael alive.
“I am grateful for life and for all the blessings I have received,” expressed Mary, who highlighted that she inherited her devotion from her family at a very early age.
However, other parishioners showed discontent with Saint Michael, as they claim some of their requests have not been fulfilled.
The celebration of Saint Michael’s Day takes place with various religious activities, including the masses scheduled throughout the day and a penitential procession in which the devotees participate.
