Government invests RD$157 million in road infrastructure to strengthen tourism and local economy in Jarabacoa

La Vega. – The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, started this Wednesday the reconstruction work of the Jumunuco access road, in the Sabina street section of the municipality of Jarabacoa, with an investment of RD$157,082,354. The work, which will be executed by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), contemplates the reconstruction of 4.9 kilometers divided into two sections, and seeks to significantly improve the road connectivity of one of the areas with the greatest ecotourism potential in La Vega.

The project will allow a significant improvement in access to agricultural, residential, and tourist areas, facilitating the mobility of residents and visitors. The works include paving with asphalt concrete, construction of sidewalks and curbs, encasements in ravines, signage and stormwater drainage systems, which will guarantee a durable and safe infrastructure for local and tourist traffic. This initiative is part of the Dominican government’s tourism development plan with a territorial focus, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, which seeks to ensure that the economic benefits of the industry reach rural and peripheral communities.
