Court of Appeals grants semi-liberty regime to Payaso Kanqui after serving half of his sentence

Santiago. – The Santiago Court of Appeals modified the sentence of Kelvin Francisco Núñez Morel, artistically known as Payaso Kanqui, who is serving a 12-year prison sentence for sexual abuse of minors. The decision favors the convicted with the modality of semi-freedom, which will allow him to leave two days a week to visit his family, while continuing to serve his sentence at the Rafey Hombres Correction and Rehabilitation Center.

The regional prosecutor of the Court of Appeals, Juan Carlos Bircann, explained that Núñez Morel has already served half of the sentence, which entitles him to request this benefit, contemplated in the penitentiary regulations. The case of the Kanki Clown generated great repercussions in the country after the complaints of several victims that led to his arrest and subsequent conviction. Now, with the variation of the measure, the artist will be able to enjoy some flexibility in his prison regime, although he will remain under the supervision of the penitentiary authorities.
