Santo Domingo.– Jean Andrés Pumarol was transferred this Monday under custody to the hearing room of the Palace of Justice of Ciudad Nueva, where the request for coercive measure against him is known for the violent attack that occurred in a residential tower in the Naco sector, which left a woman dead and several injured.

The young defendant was taken from the detention area known as the “jail”, after having been evaluated by medical personnel after showing signs of mental alteration during the previous days. The hearing, in charge of the Permanent Attention Court of the National District, had been previously postponed to guarantee his physical appearance. The Public Ministry is requesting preventive detention, alleging that Pumarol represents a danger to society and that there is a risk of flight. The Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of aggravated voluntary homicide and attempted homicide to the detriment of several people. According to the record, the defendant allegedly attacked several people with a bladed weapon inside his residence, resulting in one deceased woman and at least two injured people. The court is expected to issue a decision on the coercive measure in the coming hours.
