Santo Domingo. – The Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) and the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) signed a collaboration agreement to implement new GOB Points using existing state infrastructures, without generating rental costs. The initiative marks the beginning of a model that will be replicated with other public entities, with the aim of expanding the network of digital and face-to-face services of the State.

“With this model, we move forward without incurring rental costs, consolidating agile, reliable, and accessible care for citizens,” he noted. For his part, the director of INPOSDOM, Eric Guzmán, highlighted that the agreement reinforces the transformative role of the mail in public management, contributing to the modernization of the State and the consolidation of digital and transparent services. As part of the agreement, three new GOB Points will be enabled in Moca, San Pedro de Macorís and San Juan de la Maguana, where the OGTIC will coordinate the services offered, according to the needs of the citizenry. GOB Points allow citizens to access more than 260 services, including the issuance and renewal of passports, driver’s licenses, birth certificates, certificates of no criminal record, and affiliation to social programs such as Supérate and SENASA. Between January and July of this year alone, these centers managed more than 862,000 services, benefiting more than 500,000 people, with an estimated savings of RD$19.9 million and more than 129,000 hours of time recovered for citizens. The agreement will have an initial term of three years, with the possibility of renewal and adjustments agreed upon between both institutions, within the framework of a broader strategy of the OGTIC to expand the network of GOB Points throughout the country.
