The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) not only chose its new authorities this Sunday, but also revealed the main political structures that are beginning to position themselves within the organization with an eye toward the 2028 presidential nomination race.
Among the groups that emerge strengthened from the new composition is Carolina Mejía’s team, which managed to place her son, Juan Garrigó Mejía, as secretary general of the party. Mejía, the current mayor of the National District, is one of the PRM figures aspiring to the presidential candidacy.
An alliance between the political teams of David Collado and Yayo Sanz Lovatón was also reflected, which managed to promote the appointment of Gloria Reyes as National Organization Secretary. Collado, the current Minister of Tourism, is also among the leaders who have expressed their presidential aspirations.

On the other hand, Wellington Arnaud’s political team celebrated the election of their political coordinator, former deputy and current national treasurer of the PRM, Luis Delgado, as national Electoral secretary. Arnaud, director of the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers (Inapa), also aspires to the Presidency of the Republic.
The appointments are part of the PRM’s new national structure, led by President Luis Abinader for the 2026-2030 period, and mark the first visible movements of the groups that will seek to position themselves ahead of the organization’s next internal convention.
