Santo Domingo, DN.– Carolina Mejía was emphatic in stating that the Dominican Republic must strictly comply with the General Migration Law.

“Here we must defend national sovereignty above any understanding, period,” he maintained during an interview.

The presidential candidate reiterated that it is necessary to use all available tools to ensure that the migration entering the country is verifiable.

“We have to know who enters here,” he stated.

Mejía considered that the border wall, by itself, is not enough, which is why he proposed continuing to promote new investments in the area, including free trade zones and other types of businesses.

Likewise, she declared herself a promoter of improving the living conditions of the people who reside in the border area.

In that sense, he highlighted the development achieved in Dajabón and Juana Méndez through the Codevi project, which, as he pointed out, has allowed both communities to be provided with services they previously did not have.

“We have to promote an economic wall on our border as well, but I repeat, defending our sovereignty jealously,” he reiterated.
