Santo Domingo, RD. — The deputy of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Francisco Villegas, submitted this Wednesday before the Chamber of Deputies a bill that establishes the mandatory affiliation of all public servants to the National Health Insurance (SENASA). The initiative proposes that state officials directly use the state insurance. Villegas explained that the central purpose is to guarantee transparency, equity, and strengthening of the social security system, so that all personnel in the public sector have the same health protection scheme, regardless of their level, position, or hierarchy.

The legislator maintained that this measure also seeks to strengthen confidence in SENASA’s services, promote a more sustainable system, and reduce the existing gap between officials and citizens regarding health care. If approved, the proposal would represent a significant step towards the total integration of the public sector under the umbrella of national insurance, thus promoting a fairer and more uniform health model for all state employees.
