Santo Domingo. – The meteorological analyst Jean Suriel reported that from this January 15 the coldest period of the year began in the Dominican Republic, which will last until March 15, a period in which the lowest temperatures of the national territory will be recorded. Suriel explained that over the next two months the environment will become noticeably colder in a large part of the country, due to the influence of frontal systems and polar air masses, typical of the so-called “tropical winter”. The drop in temperatures will be more significant in the mountainous area and in the Cibao region, where the effects of the frontal season will be felt more intensely. The specialist added that, although the coldest period will end in mid-March, the environment will remain very cool until mid-April of this year.
