Madrid.- Three members of the youth gang Trinitarios have been arrested as suspects in the attempted machete killing of a young man in a Madrid park last November, Spanish police reported this Monday. The victim, with no connection to violent youth groups, was with a group of friends when the Trinitarios were looking for members of the rival gang Dominican Don’t Play (DDP) to assault them.

Following the police investigation, law enforcement was able to arrest this December three males, one adult and two minors, accused of attempted murder, robbery with violence, and belonging to a criminal organization. The young man assaulted suffered very serious injuries to his abdomen, side, and back. According to initial police investigations, the victim was chosen at random “due to the simple misfortune of encountering the aggressor group in action in rival territory, as they had no connection with violent groups”. They demanded that he make offensive symbols against the rival group and forced him to hand over his phone to access his social networks in order to check their content which, in the aggressors’ opinion, corroborated their version. Two of the detainees entered a juvenile center and the adult was released with precautionary measures by court order.
