He also assured that the Government, under the direction of President Luis Abinader, is working through the Ministry of Education (Minerd) to raise the levels of education throughout the national territory, with a view to forming more prepared and competitive citizens.The vice president called on parents and guardians to actively involve themselves in the education of their children. “Education is a shared commitment between the family, teachers, and the State; together we will move towards a more just and equitable society,” she said.
In the province of Santiago, a total of 587 schools, distributed in more than 8 thousand classrooms, will receive the 250 thousand students enrolled in this school year. The event was attended by the regional director of Education, Pedro Pablo Marte; the provincial governor, Rosa Santos; the mayor of Santiago, Ulises Rodríguez; the vice minister of Education, Julio Cordero; the director of the host educational center, Mercedes Véloz; and the student Melani Sirí, who spoke on behalf of the student community. With this act, the Government formally initiated the school day in a province that represents one of the main academic axes of the country, amid a renewed commitment to strengthen the integral formation of Dominican children and youth.
