Wagner “El Gallero” Taveras reportedly surrendered to authorities after a shootout in Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata, D.R. – Wagner Tavarez Taveras, alias “El Gallero”, who was being sought by the National Police after an incident that occurred on June 14 on Luis Ginebra Avenue, where citizen Jhan Carlos Tejada Bautista was shot, would have surrendered to the authorities. “El Gallero” is accused of having shot Tejada Bautista in the face, causing a jaw fracture, after an argument involving a third party over an alleged economic debt. After the incident, the man fled in a black jeep and arrest warrant No. 2025-AJ0038158 was issued against him, classified by the Police as “heavily armed and highly dangerous” It is expected that in the coming days, the Prosecutor’s Office of the judicial district of Puerto Plata will request coercive measures against Tavarez Taveras, in view of the seriousness of the events and the current health condition of the victim.
