SANTO DOMINGO. – In an emotional ceremony, the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) recognized 23 outstanding educators during the eleventh edition of its award “Medal for Teaching Merit in Physical Education 2024-2025”.
The activity was led by the institution’s executive director, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, who highlighted the transformative role of teachers in the comprehensive training of students through sports.
During the gala, the “Always Masters” distinction was awarded to five educators with outstanding careers, and the “Medal for Teaching Merit” to 18 teachers representing different educational regions.
Rodríguez Mella also paid tribute to key figures in the history of INEFI, recognizing former directors such as Danilo Mesa, Jorge Minaya, Esteban Pérez Polanco and Franklin Duval, as well as collaborator Rafael Abreu (Cucho), for their contribution to the development of physical education in the country.
“The commitment and passion of these teachers has been fundamental in sowing values and promoting a healthy life in our schools”, expressed Rodriguez Mella, while reaffirming the institutional commitment to the continuous training of teachers and the provision of adequate teaching resources.
The teaching director, Manuel Morel, praised the management of Rodríguez Mella, highlighting that he has been “the only director who has fully met the objectives of INEFI, promoting school sports with true vision and commitment“.
